Highland Courte offers hope and recovery to the gambler. Through an intensive program, we focus on some of the unique issues of this addiction as well as the common issues involved in all addictions. We maintain the dignity of each patient by giving them input into the design of their treatment plan. We respect their right to make choices. The education, life skills, therapy and interrelationship provided in the gender-specific groups as well as the individual time are some components of the core program emphasizing lifestyle changes.
For family members and friends who have a gambler in their lives it is important to know that they cannot stop the gambler; only the gambler can do that with the help of a recovery program. Family members must learn ways to prevent further financial damage. Highland Courte offers a program that provides information about the process of addiction and recovery. Participants are given the opportunity to explore their own feelings and attitudes about gambling. They learn where their own responsibilities begin and end. Issues such as communication and rebuilding trust are addressed.
